Style and gameplay


The idea of peace incarnate came to me when playing Deus Ex. I wanted to a game with a distinct cel-shaded design, with different play-styles depending on what skills you choose. Killer 7's style had an influence on the cel shaded decision, rather than have it be ps1 or even have old unreal graphics. This leads to a focus on "contrast" which permeates in gameplay.

Instead of stats I opted for a pure perk system instead of a granular point purchase system. The perks are based on situations. Stable shot prevents scatter without needing to stay still and each melee ability isn't solely an increase in damage. Rather than changing difficulty through enemy health points or having to micro-manage manage stats, there's a defined change in what moment to moment events happen.
